Wrath of the Lich King – Mounts Update
Today we’ve got a huge update of the mounts added in the expansion. We’ll probably have a nice article on how to get them “soon”. We have a lot of work to do still on Riptide. We still think the niche is good, but the numbers don’t feel right yet. (Source)

Enhancement shamans / UR changes
I can say that we aren’t thrilled about seeing Enhancement shammies in caster gear, with two fast weapons and dual FTs. We have some ideas that will shift Enhancement back to caring about AP more, while still letting you do a lot of spell damage, because that’s a cool part of the class. I predict that WF / FT will be more popular, but you never know. (Source)

If I didn’t mention it before, UR should be affecting ranged attack power too. We’ll get that fixed.

Windfury Bugs
I almost hate to mention this for fear I will be proven wrong, but we think we fixed the bugs with WF and they should be available next patch. (Source)

Lightning Bolt nerf in WotLK / Elemental spec damage boost
The reason Lightning Bolt probably feels weak to you (which I gather is the problem, though many of these posts aren’t at all easy to read) is because it benefits from a lot of buffs that didn’t used to benefit it. The old Curse of Shadows is but one example. We designed the numbers for LB to do some pretty decent damage when raid buffed, and lowered some of the base number accordingly so that it wouldn’t be insane when fully buffed. But we started to realize Elementals were going to log into 3.0, even before Northrend, and see LB damage way down. That feels pretty cruddy. So we’re talking about ways to get the damage back up there to where it feels decent in small groups or solo.

The good news is that overall, Elemental damage was low. That’s going to give us a lot of room for Balance-like damage buffs. I’m not saying we’re going to handle it the same way, but you should see it go up noticeably in a patch or two. Cool?

You will see your dps go up a lot when in a large group — that’s part of the charm of seeing what happens when everyone combines their efforts. WotLK – Heroic Dungeon Loot List
During the past weeks, we mostly focused on raid instances and didn’t talk much about Heroic instances. It’s time to fix that, in Wrath of the Lich King heroic instances have their own loot table, and now that most (all ?) instances are available in Heroic Mode on beta servers, that’s a LOT of items. All these items are ilvl 200 (Same as Naxxramas-10, but rare instead of epic obviously), for the moment we won’t sort them by instance because we don’t have enough data to do that, but it will eventually happen.

The list is not complete, but most of the items should be here. I’ll probably start working on nice lists of loot for each dungeon very soon, you can stop threatening me in mail because I didn’t update some of the lists in a long time or kept them spread over a few posts. Enhancement Shamans in WotLK
We view Enhancement as a melee class that should be wearing melee gear. However, one of the interesting things about the shaman is throwing out some spells with that melee too.

Our view of things is that some smart theorycrafters started wondering if using two fast caster weapons with two flametongue enchants would end up being the right way to go. The way the discussion sort of ended up was “maybe, but it might be close” but a lot of the community took that as a mandate. Or maybe they were just shocked by the supposition because it felt wrong for a melee class. We agree it feels wrong, so we’re doing some tweaks to make it even less likely to be the most optimal set up. If you are saving up badges or arena points or whatever for your enhancement shammy, I would definitely NOT go out and get two fast caster weapons. (Source)

With the opening of the Vault of Archavon a few days ago, more and more Deadly Gladiator’s items are dropped on test realms and we’ve got enough of them to do a post. (This is also a good way to move the Hateful Gladiator sets from the raid loot list, don’t look for them here anymore)

These items are currently dropping from Archavon, a raid boss available to players belonging to the faction in control of Lake Wintergrasp. Right now the boss is largely undertuned and we’re not even sure that the Deadly Gladiator’s gear will drop from this guy (even if it seems likely), anything here could be a placeholder to keep players interested in testing the encounter.

Note – Due to the low amount of items discovered, we also added comparisons with lower quality versions of each items to give you an idea of the stats increase between sets. Models for these armors aren’t available yet / are most likely placeholders and you’ll have to wait a later patch to see how they look.

We’re now 2 months away from Wrath of the Lich King
Patch 3.0.2 will probably be deployed on live servers very soon, probably in mid october.
The game will be in stores on November 13 in North America, Europe, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Russia, and on November 14 in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. The expansion will be available in Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on November 18, and the launch timing for China will be announced at a later date.

WotLK to be released on November 13 2008
That’s it, the WotLK release date is now definitive and the game will be available in store on November 13 2008. The source is an advertisement on Wowhead, which also happens to be an official Blizzard fansite. It means :

Update – Patch notes added

PTR 3.0.2 Now available
Public Test Realms for Patch 3.0.2 are finally available ! The build isn’t newer than what we’ve got on the current version of WotLK and you shouldn’t see any difference between classes. Obviously, we’ll list anything new here as soon as it is discovered and any difference if we find any !
